Creating Scientific Research Opportunities on NTDs for Young Professionals from Countries Where these Diseases Are Endemic
- Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Benin, Togo Country
- 226.000 € Investment
- 2023-25 Length
The Challenge
Research plays a key role in the fight against skin Neglected Tropical Diseases (skin NTDs).
However, little research is done by scientists from endemic countries.
The solution
We will, together with the Raoul Follereau Foundation, launch an open call for research projects with three main goals:
- To bridge the current knowledge gap in order to achieve effective action against skin NTDs.
- To include – among the themes of the call – studies related to the link between skin NTDs and social determinants of health, and the link between skin NTDs and gender.
- To foster and promote scientific research in the countries most affected by skin NTDs.
Impact
Encouraging young researchers in countries where skin NTDs are endemic will contribute to the development of a new generation of scientists who will be better able to understand and manage the challenges of these diseases in their own countries.
This will also produce contextualised scientific evidence that can be used to develop more effective control policies and strategies.
